From the moment I started working with the Megahair Family I knew that it was a great place to be. In my fifteen years as a Designer it’s nice to be working for a company that has the same values as I do concerning my guests. This means a lot to a new employee. To me, designing is much more than that great haircut and colour; it is about touching the lives of my guests in other ways.

The third day of my employment was the first time I met Mark Banicevic, the founder of the Megahair Family. I was amazed that a busy man such as he would take the time to personally talk to me and welcome me to the family. His values and mine were the same when it came to looking after our guests. Our mission states “we do business from the heart and serve our guests with a feeling of beauty from the inside out”. In my career as a Designer this is what I have always followed, but never was it put into words such as this. Our business and reputation are built on our guests’ satisfaction and loyalty. Over time our guests do start to feel like family, as I have many that have been with me since day one of employment!

I have been with the company for five years. This is a company that is very community minded-from Daymaker Day, the “MEGABUCK” recycling program and various other charities as well. It truly is refreshing to work for a company that cares for its employees and others in such a way that Mark and his daughter Milajne Soligo do. I feel like part of the family!

I have been in the hair and beauty industry for over 7 years and I began my career with the Megahair Family almost 4 years ago. I started as a Coordinator and was a part of this team for about 8 months. I left to work for another salon and after being there for 2 years I returned to the Megahair Family looking for a new opportunity to learn and grow. I am now currently an Assistant Manager and have moved from Team Lead to this position in just a few short months. Being in this industry for almost 5 years, I have had the opportunity to work in a few salons, but none that gave as much positive reinforcement to the staff as the Megahair Family does. Upon moving to Vancouver, I had a few interviews with salons that on the exterior were upscale and luxurious yet seemed to be lacking pride and heart within. My first interview at the Megahair Family with Mark Kirby made me feel like he was a firm believer in this company, and I was pretty impressed by their mission and vision they stand by. I have been with the Megahair Family for three and a half years. I initially applied for Eccotique Spa unaware that the company also had salon divisions. I was hired within the Zennkai Downtown location, which offered a working environment that suited my personality very well. I have stayed with Zennkai Salon for so long, not only because of the great people I get to work with, but also because of the flexibility in scheduling that management has allowed me while attending school. Since I first joined the Zennkai team I have developed into a Team Leader position, which was a result not only from my individual hard work, but also due to the amazing coaching and encouragement from various people within management.

Since starting with the company almost 3 years ago, I have accomplished all my goals and then some. The Megahair Family has given me more opportunities and room to grow than any other salon I have been a part of. I have gone from Junior Stylist right out of hair school, to a Master Stylist, all because the company has pushed me to strive for more. I started with the Megahair Family in March 2009 and since then I feel more welcome than I have ever felt in any other company. As a Manager I have location responsibility with a lot of support to back it up. When I was on Craigslist I read about the Megahair family and at first I found it hard to believe that a company could have such a great concept. Our Mission and Vision, (Beauty From the inside out) our MEGABUCK recycling program, our Gift Card with Heart and of course the education the company provides have all lived up to their promise. Overall, I was taken back, applied right away, was hired for the position and never looked back!
